My Mt. Abu Diary

As you all know I like to travel a lot. This time I, my friends visited Mt. Abu. One of the best place to visit in Rajasthan. Mt. Abu aka Arbhudaanchal (Forest of Arbhuda) is a beautiful hill station in Aravalli range. We visited on 11th Oct last week only (little earlier than season period) for 3 days. I love to observe nature in silence and peace so we elected little off season. You can also visit in season time but there will be heavy rush of people. And also in season, rates of hotels, taxis and many other things will be high. Not so favorable for budget travellers.

It was one or two in the noon when we reached Mt. Abu. So we decided to go Nakki Lake as it was at a short distance from our hotel Ashoka. Nakki Lake was looking beautiful. Sun was at it's full peak and Nakki lake was gleaming like a glitter. Boating in the lake is popular among other activities in Abu. But we didn't go for it because it was very sunny. We did boating in the evening. Boating charges were little high. 150 INR per head and 60 INR extra if we take guide with us. It was amazing experience.

From Nakki lake we started walking for Honeymoon point thinking that it would not be too far as GPS was saying 1 km. But it was more than one kilometer and I was very tired. Somehow we reached Honeymoon point on time and enjoyed the amazing view of nature. Sun can be clearly seen with it's edge too. Normally you can't see the sun with naked eye.

Next day on 12th Oct, we decided to visit Guru Shikhar, Achalgarh Fort and Trevor's Tank. Taxi cars and bikes on rent are available there for sight seeing. We rented taxi bikes as bike ride is amazing in mountainous area like Mt. Abu. My husband and I rented Avenger and my friends selected Yamaha FZ. I would like to tell that please check condition of the bike while renting. Guru Shikhar is the highest point of not only Mt. Abu but also of Aravalli range. Above given picture is of view from apex of the beautiful Aravalli range.

Trevor's tank is in the way when you go for Guru shikhar. It is a type of pond. I will name it a silent point. Only sound you can hear is of nature - Chirping of birds, rustling of leaves, breezy wind. You can see the crocodile if you are lucky.

After that we went to Achalgarh Fort. Nice historic place. Personally I enjoyed little.

Purple Leaf # Sunset Point - Mt. Abu #
Sunset Point and Honeymoon Point is not so different. Both are basically Sunset Points. If you are running out of time, visit either one of it. We enjoyed the view like horizon where surface of earth and sky appears to meet. Best time to visit sunset point is at the time of sunset as it's name suggests.

Purple Leaf # Toad Rock Point - Mt. Abu #
Next day, we first went to Toad rock point. It is a huge rock in shape like frog, may be that is why it is known as Toad rock. This rock is at the top of one hill near Nakki lake. Great place for photography. Nakki lake and Mt. Abu town were visible fully and clearly.

Datda Seaworld is a aquarium near Nakki lake. Many types of fishes, crabs, seashells, etc are there. Nice place for children. Large collection of seashells (given below). Amazing fishes. I like fishes and I loved it.

This was our last day in Mt. Abu. It was very nice stay and amazing experience. Nearest railway station is at Abu road (30 kms from Mt. Abu). So I suggest to check out from hotel and leave for Abu Road at maximum 6 in the evening as there is no transport available after 8 PM. For dinner at Abu road, we went to Kunal Restaurant near Railway Station. This Restaurant is very nice. They serve tasty food. Liked the food very much.
